our statement on the “ceasefire agreement”

October 9, 2025
Jamaica Plain for Palestine cautiously welcomes the prospect of a “ceasefire agreement.” At the time of this writing, israel is still bombing and slaughtering Palestinian families. Yet, we are hopeful that this Palestinian genocide, carried out by the hands of israel and our own complicit U.S. government, will finally come to an end.
We revel in the joy of Palestinians, particularly those in Gaza, who are celebrating. We dream of the day where Palestinians are able to celebrate on every inch of their homeland from the river to the sea.
It is time for humanity to fix its moral deficit. It is time to flood Gaza with food and medical aid. It is time to treat the thousands of amputee children and adults. It is time for the roughly 11,000 Palestinian detainees to be released and to reject holding the Palestinian people accountable for the American-israeli biblical fantasy. It is time to isolate israel and bring an end to this ethno-nationalist fascist project that has dropped the equivalent of 14 Hiroshima bombings on a defenseless indigenous population.
Our community will continue to fight for justice and accountability from israel and our government, self-determination and dignity for Palestinians, and an end to occupation and apartheid.
We won’t stop until we achieve a truly free Palestine.
