“There is a genocide going on in front of our very eyes. A live streamed genocide on all of our phones. No one has the privilege to say we are not aware of what is happening. No one in the future will be able to say we did not know… This genocide and other genocides are being enabled and fueled by our own governments, our institutions, our media and companies. It is our responsibility to end that complicity.” -Greta Thunberg, October 6, 2025

Lavender is an AI-powered database developed by the Israeli military (IOF) to identify potential targets by analyzing vast amounts of surveillance data. Reports indicate that Microsoft’s Azure cloud platform and AI tools, such as translation services and OpenAI models, have been utilized by the IOF to process and analyze this data. This collaboration has raised ethical concerns regarding the use of commercial AI technology in military operations and its implications for civilian casualties.
